Giving Your Home a Spring Clean

Spring is on its way and it’s that time of year when we get our homes fresh and ready for the holiday season! The great news is that it doesn’t need to take all year! Here are some tips that will help you clean quickly and efficiently so that you have plenty of time to enjoy this fantastic season.

Invest in high-quality products and utensils

Choose top-notch cleaning gear, strong, reliable products, abrasive sponges, and state-of-the-art rubber gloves that protect your skin.

Stay organized

In order to significantly reduce the spring-cleaning time, experts advise us to use a smart system. And that means cleaning your home in the same order every year. Clean each room one by one, so you don’t waste any precious time running from one corner of the house to another. If you do this regularly, you’ll develop a routine that will be easy to stick to. Preferably, start with the living room, and then move to the bedrooms, balcony, hallways, bathroom, and kitchen.

Keep everything on hand

If you have the cleaning products and utensils near you, you will save considerably more time than if you’re always walking around the house to search for them. Put all of them in a basket and take it with you to every room you clean.

Vacuum first, dust off afterwards

Vacuum the entire room and wipe the dust right away. If you do the opposite, you’ll have to dust off once again after you’ve just vacuumed.

Wipe the dust from top to bottom

Don’t start by dusting off the coffee table, then the blinds, and finally realizing that the coffee table is dusty again. An essential rule is to start cleaning from top to bottom, by dusting off the ceiling, the blinds, and the top shelves, then the rest of the furniture. This way, you’ll avoid unnecessary work and wasting time.

Try to do two things simultaneously

For example, while arranging your clothes in the wardrobe or washing the furniture, turn on the washing machine and let it take care of your laundry. Another option is to let fabrics soak while vacuuming the bedrooms.

Vacuum mattresses

Mattresses collect a lot of dust; so they shouldn’t be neglected. Turn on the vacuum cleaner and set it at its maximum power, then clean the mattresses’ surfaces with a moistened (you can use warm water and vinegar) washcloth. Make sure to take note of any manufacturers warranty advice before you do!

Thoroughly clean the furniture

Typically, people tend to clean only the visible parts of the furniture. Unfortunately, dust and dirt penetrate, so check everywhere!

Use a window scraper

Dirty windows are much easier to clean with a rubber scraper than with paper towels. Put a drop of dishwashing detergent in a pot filled with water, mix them together, and apply the solution on the window with a cloth or sponge. Use a window scraper to remove the solution. This is a great technique for large or very dirty windows. If your windows are just a little dusty, then it’s easier to use paper towels and window detergents.

Last but definitely not least, the most important rule to make spring cleaning easier and quicker is to prevent the accumulation of dirt. If you clean up more often, it will be a lot easier to get the spring cleaning done in a jiffy. Once you have your house all sparkling, you can finally sit back and enjoy!
